Projection for 2023
Electric Vehicle Growth:
- France is projected to have approximately 8.5 million battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on its roads by 2030
- This includes 1.1 million electric light commercial vehicles, reflecting the transition across various vehicle categories
Charging Infrastructure:
- To support this growth, France will need around 350,000 public chargers, which represents a substantial increase from the 31,000 chargers available in 2020
- Including private chargers, the total infrastructure requirement is estimated to be between 5.7 and 6.0 million chargers by 2030
- Urban areas, such as Paris and Marseille, will require the most expansion due to higher electric vehicle uptake and lower availability of home charging
Policy Goals:
- France's government has set ambitious targets, including 7 million public and private charge points by 2030
